What is the Role of Government and Markets in Environmentalism?

Join us on the evening of November 14th for an engaging speaker panel hosted by the Columbus New Liberals. Our panelists will engage in a thought-provoking discussion on the intricate relationship between government and markets in shaping environmental policy.
Some questions (and answers) may include: What is the role of government in combating climate change? What types of innovations in the private sector will help society move towards a greener future? What are some bipartisan policies that seem promising in advancing our mutual goals?

Donny Murray
Donny has a passion for finding big solutions to the climate crisis and spreading the word on how we can create a better world. He had been the co-leader of the Columbus Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby for over 4 years and also serves on the Advisory Board of Green Columbus. During the work hours, he is an auditor at PwC, where he specializes in providing assurance of sustainability reporting for major companies around the world.

Spencer Dirrig
Spencer Dirrig is the current Director of the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund, joining in 2021 to help build the political power of the environment movement in Ohio. Spencer also serves as the 3rd Vice President of the Young Democrats of America, President of Workers United Local 2843, and a Member of the Board of Directors for the Legacy Fund of The Columbus Foundation. As an experienced political organizer, Spencer founded Breakthrough Advising LLC in 2019 and managed numerous campaigns throughout Central Ohio on the local, state, and federal level.

Jon Entine
Jon Entine is the founder and executive director of the Genetic Literacy Project (GLP), an educational outreach nonprofit that promotes science literacy by challenging misinformation on a range of issues — agricultural sustainability, food security and climate change, synthetic biology, biomedicine, public health, vaccine resistance and artificial intelligence.
